One way to improve your site’s load time is to minimize the number of tags on your website. One of the biggest surprises in the initial release of Google Analytics 4 was the lack of a conversion rate metric. Given the massive emphasis on conversions and Google’s own ‘Google Optimize’ tool that allows you to test different conversion rates on your website it would seem that this metric should be a default in GA4.

In the interim, you can still get at your conversion rates by using a simple workaround. All you have to do is enable the User ID feature (which we covered in a previous article). Once you’ve enabled it, you can create a new report that compares your total conversions to your user conversion rates by going to Reports > View Snapshot and creating a comparison with the following condition: Signed in with user ID equals true.

When you click Save, you’ll be able to see your results. This will give you a more accurate representation of the conversions that are being converted on your site as a result of users signing in to your app or website. However, you will have to remember that these results are only going to be reflected in reports that are session-scoped. To get a more complete picture, you should use the report in combination with a separate goal-based report.

The only drawback to this approach is that if you have multiple users accessing your account, they may end up seeing different results as the results will be aggregated based on their unique user ID. This will cause some discrepancies in your data but can be minimized by ensuring that the level of access granted to each user is no higher than it needs to be.

When granting access to your Google Analytics accounts to other people, it’s important to make sure that you grant them the correct levels of permission.
